I just installed F10 KDE. First let me say amazing job!!! Quick question,
when the system checks for updates I see the KPackageKit icon and the gnome
applet. Is this normal? can the gnome applet be disabled?

Currently, both are used if both are installed. We'll likely get
gnome-packagekit to be disabled under KDE in the near future.
