Hi,

I have sent this to the fedora users mailing list but I think I may
have better responses from the kde-redhat-users mailing list.

Subject: 64-bit konqueror and 32-bit flash plugin
To: For users of Fedora <fedora-***@redhat.com>

I have 32-bit flash plugin working with 64-bit firefox ( e.g. for
testing, I can go to youtube.com and see videos ) by using the
nspluginwrapper.

However, the flash plugin it does not seem to work with konqueror.
From what I have read, 64-bit konqueror should work with both 32-bit
and 64-bit plugin, but what I get at youtube.com is: "Hello, you
either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's
Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

Just to make sure:

1) Flash plugin is installed in /usr/lib/flash-plugin:

$ rpm -qil flash-plugin
Name : flash-plugin Relocations: (not relocatable)
Version : 9.0.31.0 Vendor: Adobe Systems Inc.
Release : release Build Date: Fri 05 Jan

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 7040080 2006-12-09 10:12 libflashplayer.so

2) I have added /usr/lib/flash-plugin in the list of directories for
konqueror to search for plugins.

3) Clicking on "Scan for Plugins" does not show / list the flash
plugin in the "Plugins" tab.

Any ideas ?

This is more a configuration issue with nspluginwrapper, I'd guess.

Dunno, if it's the "latest" but
$ rpm -q flash-plugin
flash-plugin-9.0.31.0-release.i386

WORKSFORME (on i386 anyway).

So, I guess it depends on which version of flash-plugin you're using.

Indeed, here is my version info:

[***@localhost ~]$ rpm -qi flash-plugin
Name : flash-plugin Relocations: (not relocatable)
Version : 9.0.60.120 Vendor: Adobe Systems Inc.
Release : release Build Date: Fri 01 Jun 2007
......

Rolling back to 9.0.31 fixes it (konqueror), i386 here also.

9.0.48.0 is supposed to be the latest released version:
$ rpm -qi flash-plugin
Name : flash-plugin Relocations: (not relocatable)
Version : 9.0.48.0 Vendor: Adobe Systems Inc.
Release : release Build Date: Tue 19 Jun 2007

Although I just installed it and haven't tested it (currently remote from the
system).

BTW, adobe has a yum repo for flash-plugin:

Cool, I realised my "newer" version was the so called "Full Screen Beta"
version. Its probably worth while keeping an eye on Bug #146784 though.

Ah ... according to this:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146784

You have to downgrade to that specific version. To quote "The way to
fix this is to downgrade to official 9.0.r31 flash plugin.", which is
what I presume Rex is using.

OK ... I actually had 9.0r31 before, which did not work with 64-bit
konq... so I tried the latest, which is 9.0.48, which also does not
work with 64-bit konq.

I tried reverting back to 9.0r31, and still does not work with 64-bit
konqueror. Just to make sure, although I did not mention earlier, I
also have "/usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/x86_64/linux" as the first
directory to scan for plugins in konqueror. "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins"
is also listed, where it has a symbolic link to the flash plugin.

Also:

$ nspluginwrapper --list
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
Original plugin: /usr/lib/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so
Wrapper version string: 0.9.91.2

At all times, it worked with 64-bit firefox.

Just a few minutes after I posted the above, I looked at another

Added that as the second entry ... and finally, it works in 64-bit konqueror!
