rhel5 (ok, centos5 is what I'm using), apparently doesn't include
xorg-x11-xdm

What the @!##%$%^^#?!

kdebase/kdm uses some of the infrastructure/configs provided by xdm.
</rant>

OK, looks like the rhel5 builds are going to take awhile longer, while I
come up with a workaround for this.

Ick, options:
1. Recreate xdm bits, include it in kde-settings-kdm (preferred)
2. Pull in xorg-x11-xdm (from fc6) and mash into rhel5/kde repo.

Here's my two cents:

I would prefer 2. option. Because I already missed xdm under rhel5 (in fact, I use
Scientific Linux 5). If it's inside kde-settings-kdm (1.option), will xdm run ??

However, one problem I see with the 2. option: xdm has from time to time security
problems. Doing the security patches for xdm means more work for you.

Looking forward to have kde 3.5.7 on rhel5/centos5/sl5 !

Urs

opt 1, stuff in kde-settings-kdm would be for kdm *only*.

yeah, why I'm still leaning toward not doing it.

In this case I would go with option 1.

I actually rebuilt xdm from FC6 when I did my earlier personal build of
3.5.6 as that was the fastest solution that I (not a real good rpm guy)
could come up with. but it just becomes one more non kde rpm to maintain.
