Hello,

Everytime I logout of KDE-3.5.6, my screen goes blank and then locks
up after a few seconds. I am trying to determine if this is a kde or
video driver problem. Any suggestions?

Maybe you are experiencing this:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=224260

it got fixed for me by xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.1.1-47.6.fc6, but it was
sporadic to begin with.

Also: are you using freetype with BCI enabled from Avi Alkalay's site ? I
flipped back and forth with using it while experiencing that bug, but I was
unable to decide whether it made any difference.

That's the same as my experience, did not see any difference in kde if
bci is enabled.
But with gnome it's really noticeable and better.

Why that?

I've had the opposite experience, when I've tried bci in the past
(admittedly > 1 year ago)... it made fonts noticeably *worse* (when
using anti-aliased fonts, anyway).
