Hate to say it, but pretty bad experience here with kde4.1 update.

1. kmail. I use dimap. Lost all my mail. Have to resync caches.
Crashed when clicking on 'expire' to set expiration.
Lost all my mail subscriptions.
Lost all my accounts.

2. akregator. Crashes all the time. Unusable.

3. amarok. Doesn't play anything (this is the alpha). Reverted to
amarok-1.4.9.1 OK.

4. Had to turn off desktop effects, otherwise kwin was using 100% cpu. Was
pretty bad under 4.0.5 - but I had hoped it would be better, not worse!

worksforme, but it's got a lot of rough edges interface-wise.

This is f'ing nvidia, with the closed driver and well-known 2d performance
problems. 8600M. But it was better with 4.0.5.

I'm sure the kdepim dev's would be greatly interested in hearing this,
bugs.kde.org please.

You would need to install the debug packages for a better backtrace...

It does not help you, but Akregator works a treat here from within Kontact or
on its own.

Its a known problem with NV, newer cards are even worse.
Have you tried turning off Vsync? there has been many a discussion on the Dev
lists about this with possible temporary solutions.

I have an older NV FX5700 card here it is just about bearable to use.

Cheers

Reported. But after deleting lots of unused feeds, crash is gone.

Yes, turning off vsync is a BIG help here! I had tried a bunch of other
suggestions already, but this one made the diff.

Yes, i was about to suggest the same thing.

I looked at this bug but was unable to determine an obvious fix.
Unfortunately, our main akregator developer has been out for an extended vacation.

So hopefully there will be a real fix in KDE 4.1.1.
Sorry bout that.
