can a mail-list be set up in Kmail?

I've not tried this before and I'm surprised to find there's no
way to set up a small mail-list in Kmail. I just want an item I
can click on that will send a message to a group of email
addresses - can this be done? Am I missing the obvious?

Use the address book to create distribution lists. It works.

When you compose a message you should see a Select... button in front of the
empty address. Pressing it will return a dialog with several categories from
the address book, one of them is the Distribution Lists. As I said you can
manage them with the Address Book, in my case since I use kontact this is
another component.

I can expand this explanation, if necessary. :-)

Thank you, it does work. The implementation is a bit clumsy. One
more question, though, are these lists editable - they don't
appear in my address book, and I can't seem to find the way to
add names or correct mistakes...

It took me a while to find it again :-)

thanks for that quick response - Under "Settings" I've got "Show
Quick Search" and seven other options, but no "Show Extension
Bar" - could it be some KDE module I've not got installed?

Maybe something from kdeaddons? (Do you have that installed?)

Busy, atm, else I would have checked it myself.

OK - found it. I run Kontact. In order to edit the list and see
the above option "Settings/Show Extension Bar" I had to switch
from the Kmail tab to the Contacts tab.

I find this whole implementation to be the first thing I've
encountered in Kmail that I found a bit clumsy and unwieldy -
for instance, you can't add contacts to a mail-list unless
they're in your addressbook. Plus, the rather strange manner in
which a list has to be created in the first place, and the
non-intuitive manner in which you have to edit the list - oh
well, maybe it's time to head over to bugzilla and enter an
RFE...

Thanks for all the fast responses

It's part of the address book

hmmm... no idea.
I use the address book embedded inside Kontact so that could be it...
